Purpose
The purpose of the William D. North AE Institute Scholarship is to further the REALTOR® association management profession by funding 5 chief executive officers who exhibit financial need and an initiative to pursue professional growth opportunities, to attend the Association Executives Institute.
Recipients will receive complimentary registration to AEI and up to $1,000 to cover expenses. Selection is based on financial need and initiative to pursue professional growth opportunities.
Who Is William D. North?
William D. North joined the National Association of REALTORS® in 1977 and served as Executive Vice President from 1986 to 1991.
Eligibility
All paid local association chief executive officers can apply by completing the application form by the deadline. Applicants must be employed by their current association at least one year; NAR staff will verify this information before proceeding further with the application.
Award Criteria
Consideration will be given to:
- Professional development
- Leadership experience
- Financial need
Applying for both a North Scholarship and a state association-sponsored AE Institute scholarship is strongly discouraged. NAR staff will contact state associations to avoid duplication.
Nomination Procedures and Deadline
The William D. North AE Institute Scholarship covers tuition for the AE Institute and up to $1,000 in expenses. The William D. North AE Institute Scholarship nominations open in August every year.
Selection Timeline
The nomination form for the North AE Institute Scholarship will open in August 2025. Nomination forms are submitted online. Selection will be made by the AEC/Recommendations and Recognition Advisory Board by the end of October. Scholarships must be used for the Institute for which they are intended. If a recipient is unable to attend the Institute during the year for which he/she was awarded a scholarship, that recipient forfeits the scholarship.
