Earlier this week, NAR participated in an industry conference focused on “The Changing State of Play for Association Health Plans (AHPs),” with numerous national and state trade associations interested in or already pursuing AHPs. NAR staff presented on a panel alongside the American Veterinary Medical Association, the National Restaurant Association, the National Association of Mortgage Brokers, and the Small Business Association of Michigan, discussing the challenges and successes with implementing AHPs in light of the ongoing federal litigation.
NAR co-founded a broad multi-industry to promote and preserve the Department of Labor rule expanding access to AHPs – the Coalition to Protect and Promote AHPs – which sponsored the event. The purpose of the Coalition is to unite industry efforts and work with federal and state regulators to address state concerns while preserving flexibility under the rule to maximize AHP access. The event was a chance for Coalition members and other trade associations to discuss early adoption of AHPs, potential implications of the federal litigation, and strategize on advocacy efforts to secure a favorable future for AHPs.
