Michael C. McGrew, a REALTOR® for more than 30 years, in Lawrence, Kan., was the 2014-2016 Treasurer for the National Association of REALTORS®.
Mike is the CEO/Chairman of McGrew Real Estate, a firm specializing in residential and commercial real estate and development. He has earned designations as a Certified Residential Specialist (CRS) and a Certified Real Estate Brokerage Manager (CRB).
Mike has held many roles at the national level. He has served for nine years on NAR’s Board of Directors and five years on the Executive Committee. He was the 2014-2016 Treasurer and chaired both the Finance Committee and the Reserve Investment Advisory Board, both of which he has been a member since 2010. Mike is on the board of directors of Sentrilock, the REALTORS® Relief Foundation, and the Reaume Foundation. Previously, he chaired committees for Federal Taxation and Risk Management. He has been a member on committees including budgeting, business issues, and public policy. Mike served NAR as the Vice President for Region 9 in 2003. He was inducted into the Omega Tau Rho honorary fraternity in 1998 and the RPAC Hall of Fame in 2010.
The Kansas Association of REALTORS® (KAR) elected Mike their president in 1998. He has been a federal political coordinator since 2005 and a state RPAC Trustee since 1996. He has chaired committees including governmental affairs, business plan design and strategic planning. He was named the 2000 REALTOR® of the Year and in 2004 he was honored with the Distinguished Service Award. He is also a member of the Missouri Association of REALTORS (MAR) where he has served on its Finance Committee.
Mike is a member of the Lawrence Board of REALTORS®. He served as its secretary and on the board. He continues to be a member of the Government Affairs Committee which he has previously chaired. In 1995 he was named the REALTOR® of the Year and in 2008 he received the Lawrence Distinguished Service Award.
Mike is committed to his community. He was the 2014 Chairman for the Lawrence Chamber of Commerce and has been a member of its board of directors for 8 years. He has continued to serve as a trustee of the Douglas County Community Foundation since 2008. He is a past chairman, and recipient of the Distinguished Service Award for the Bert Nash Mental Health Facility and continues as a member of its Finance Committee.
Mike is a graduate of the School of Business at Kansas University. A third-generation REALTOR® raised in Lawrence, Mike and his wife, Christine, have two adult children, John and Nicole.
