The National Association of REALTORS®’ Innovation, Opportunity & Investment (iOi) initiative, which focuses on proptech innovation, is shifting from an annual, in-person industry event to a year-round online portal where real estate professionals can access cutting-edge technology tools, gain insights into the latest trends and network with like-minded peers.
The new iOi collective at ioi.realtor serves as a hub to connect NAR members with proptech developers, investors and tech leaders. The site includes real-time updates, proptech meetups, webinars, a dedicated emerging technology blog and tech-specific programming at NAR’s major conferences.
“The new iOi collective’s overarching goal is to expand the community and drive innovation by bringing together real estate professionals and technology leaders,” says Dan Weisman, NAR’s director of innovation strategy. “Technology is reshaping real estate faster than ever, and iOi is evolving to meet the industry’s needs.”
The iOi collective allows visitors to dive deeper into a range of topics that affect the real estate business, from artificial intelligence to computer vision and modular construction to virtual reality. The collective also highlights some of the latest challenges facing the industry, such as housing affordability, and how entrepreneurs are creating innovations to solve some of real estate’s biggest problems.
“As the industry continues to advance, iOi ensures that real estate professionals don’t just keep up with technology—they help define its future,” Weisman says.
Two of iOi’s signature programs, the Pitch Battle and the Innovator of the Year Awards, will be featured at NAR’s flagship conferences. The Innovator of the Year Awards, which recognizes leaders who are driving advancement in real estate innovation, will be held each spring at the REALTORS® Legislative Meetings in Washington, D.C. The Pitch Battle, in which startups go head-to-head to showcase their groundbreaking products for real estate, will be held during NAR NXT, The REALTOR® Experience, in Houston this November.
