Kevin Bryant rescues kids from fire in Staten Island

Real estate pro Kevin Bryant of Compass Greater New York was preparing to show a home to buyers on a Monday afternoon in mid-May when he suddenly heard people yelling down the street. A home was on fire next door.

Three children and a small dog were trapped inside the home alone, and the fire department had not yet arrived.

Bryant instantly sprung into action, sprinting to the home, breaking down several doors, and rescuing the three children and a small dog who were alone inside.

Bryant’s quick actions have made him a hero throughout his community in Staten Island, N.Y.

Bryant told REALTOR® Magazine that he was glad he was "at the right place at the right time." To Bryant, he was only scared for the safety of all those inside. “No fear, not scared at all,” Bryant told NY-1 News after rescuing the children. “I was just more worried about getting everyone out safely.”

The fire department continues to investigate what may have caused the fire.

"All my clients have called me. A lot of people are reaching out," Bryant told REALTOR® Magazine. "I have a few friends on FDNY who said I might have missed my calling. The kids were very young, and if I didn’t get in there the smoke could have got to them."
