Resilience Shapes Success
Logan Gratz, 28, experienced a traumatic loss at age 10 when his mother, Mary Kay, passed away. “She was diagnosed with a brain tumor when I was 5, which she battled for five years.” He says that difficult experience matured him and his brother, who was 15 at the time. “It was just the two of us and dad, and it gave me motivation and drive.”
Eager to work, Gratz earned his real estate license in 2014, just two months after graduating high school. He joined the family business and worked through college, earning his bachelor’s degree in business administration from Lincoln University of Missouri.
Gratz Real Estate was founded by Gratz’s grandfather about 50 years ago. The company offered auctioneering and real estate services. When Gratz began working there, it was more known for its auctioneering than real estate sales. So, one of his first tasks was to change people’s perceptions. He transformed the company’s marketing efforts to focus on traditional residential home buying and selling, and its market share began to grow.
“We ran numerous campaigns on Facebook, Instagram and SnapChat. I created our slogan, ‘ConGratz,’ that we started using with a lot of our marketing. It worked great for closings, as our clients would take a photo with our sign that says, ‘Sold ConGratz!’ We also started highlighting our involvement in the community.”
When he started his rebranding efforts 10 years ago, the office ranked 11th in total market share, according to the Jefferson City Area Board of REALTORS®. Today, the company ranks fifth.
Gratz eventually became an auctioneer and has kept his family’s tradition of donating time to lead charity and fundraiser events. “I’ve found that if you invest in your community, your community will invest in you.”
