A People-Centric Approach
For Kina De Santis, being a real estate professional is about serving not only clients but also the people she works with day in and day out. As the leader of her team, Reframe, De Santis manages 11 agents in Southern California and one more in the San Francisco Bay Area. And she is very particular about who she brings on board. She wants someone who can do the job and fit into the culture she is building. It’s a culture where agents can lean on each other, have fun, and be dedicated to supporting their clients.
“We’re not one of those brokerages where everybody can come join us,” says De Santis, who, at 28, is just over a year into building her team. “Everyone is really cohesive, and I want to keep that strong culture as long as I can, where agents help each other and share opportunities with one another.”
The result, she says, is a team of agents who genuinely enjoy working together. “Real estate allows you to build your business how you think it should be, where your main job is to help others achieve their goals,” De Santis says. For instance, when the pandemic hit she doubled down on educational video content for first-time buyers, which garnered her more than 25,000 followers on TikTok.
She’s had people come into her office and tell her they were drawn in by the sound of laughter. “That’s the point of life,” she says. “The happiness of life is being around people you really like and care about more than getting a little bit more on your bottom line. I’m not trying to build the biggest brokerage or expand a ton. But if I meet someone who is an amazing culture fit, I will bring them on.”
