Investing in Herself and Others
During the pandemic, Destinie Marshall, 29, noticed an uptick in people investing in real estate in South Dakota. The observation led her to learn more about tax breaks and landlord incentives, and she started investing in real estate herself. She formed a team with a dedicated investment focus to provide property management and educational programs to both agents and clients on topics such as growth and development in her hometown of Sioux Falls.
“Beyond transactions, we offer a comprehensive experience emphasizing education, investment and community building,” she says. “My niche lies in simplifying the real estate process for those who navigate their investment journey and making it accessible and beneficial for everyone involved.”
One initiative is an annual summit, given in collaboration with city planners, that focuses on the growth and development of Sioux Falls that alerts attendees to investment opportunities.
Another investment she is making is toward her master’s degree in economics at South Dakota State University, after which she intends to give back to her alma mater by teaching real estate and leadership classes as an adjunct professor. “I want to ensure that the next generation of professionals is equipped with the knowledge and skills necessary for success,” she says.
In addition, Marshall is building in her own physical and mental health. Two years ago, she picked up the sport of powerlifting and discovered a new passion for competition. She has set state records and created a powerlifting community for women. Next up, she hopes to qualify for national competition. Powerlifting has “transformed my life physically but has also become a platform for empowering others to discover their strength and resilience,” Marshall says.
