Driven by Her Heart
A devastating Go-Kart accident almost cost Ashlee Nath her life when she was 9 years old. Real estate helped give her a new one.
Although Nath’s right arm was nearly severed, 16 surgeries restored some function. But the deep emotional wounds persisted. “Kids bullied me. I didn’t have friends growing up. I hid from people as much as possible,” recalls Nath, 29. After four years as a stay-at-home mom while her husband served in the Army, Nash felt it was time to leave her comfort zone and find work that would make a difference in people’s lives.
In 2018, she launched a home staging business. Then she pivoted to real estate. Early leads came to her from her three kids’ play groups and Facebook landing pages she created. The bulk of her sales, though, are connected to the five military bases in her area.
Two years ago, Nath’s compassion led her to turn an investment property into a recovery home for women struggling with alcoholism and other substance abuse issues. “Mine was the first certified sober home in Colorado that accepts women with children,” she says. “I want the house to be a consistent support for them.” That commitment relates back to her childhood trauma. “My mother suffers with alcoholism. She started drinking when I had my accident. I wanted to provide a beautiful, safe space for women so maybe they won’t relapse or go back on the street. It’s something I can do for the community.”
