One of the most frequently asked questions about global councils is “How do I take my global council to the next level?” Or, just as often we hear “what are other global groups doing for {insert activity here}”? We have listened to these questions and have come up with what we hope is a resource for you to get the answers to those burning questions. We have put together a Global Business Council Best Practices Library.

In 2011, we launched the Global Achievement Awards Program to recognize and reward the most active associations in global business. For the past 6 years we witnessed those organizations demonstrate their commitment to helping members capture their share of the global real estate market in the United States, in addition to connecting their council and members to the global community in their local area. The levels of recognition are Silver, Gold, Platinum and Diamond.

When we look at these award-winning councils around the U.S., we measure success in five categories: Business Plan, Education and Events, Marketing and Communication, Outreach, and Benchmarking. Each Council vying for an award must provide examples in each of those categories of what they did, how they did it, and why it was successful/how they measured success. Out of our 131 Councils, there are so many doing really amazing work!

What better way to recognize their hard work AND make the collective group stronger, than to highlight the “best of the best” and share them to help all Councils to learn and grow?

This Global Council Best Practices Library curates the most innovative or effective ideas taken from all levels of our 2017 Global Achievement Program Award Winners. It is our hope that in this library, you will find a new inspiration or challenge for your group! Any of these ideas can be reworked, expanded on or adapted by any size board. If you want more details on the full breadth of the idea, please reach out to the creative geniuses behind these ideas to see what their process was (or to me, and I’ll put you in touch!).

If you are reading this and thinking to yourself, “I’ve always wondered what those global groups are really doing!” then I hope this answers your questions too! If you want more information on the process, feel free to reach out to us directly or come to the Global Programs for Associations course at the REALTORS® Conference & Expo on October 31 in Boston, MA.

The 2018 Global Achievement Program Award Application process will open on August 15 and the deadline for submission for consideration is September 14. We cannot wait to see what new and inspiring programs, event, outreach strategies and community involvement we will see this year from the best & brightest. We will add the best of this year’s winners to the library as well! Working together to continue to build global awareness around the U.S., we are challenging each other to rise to new heights and bringing more professionalism to our members and to elevate our associations in the larger business community.
