To earn and maintain the CIPS designation, you must pay membership dues to the National Association of REALTORS® each year. If your dues are not renewed each year, your use of the CIPS designation will be terminated, you will be removed from the network directory, you will no longer be able to use the CIPS logo and name on marketing materials, and all other membership benefits will be revoked.
Inactive for fewer than 5 years
If you earned the CIPS Designation and your membership has been inactive for a period of 1-4 years, you must:

- Pay a $50 reactivation fee
To renew your designation today, follow these steps:
- Access the secure online payment site
- Log in and navigate to "My Orders" in order to pay

Inactive for 5+ years
CIPS policy requires reactivation within five years of the inactive date. If you have been inactive for more than five years, you must take two additional courses before you may reactivate.
If you earned the CIPS Designation and you have not paid membership dues in over five years you must:
- Retake the CIPS core course Global Real Estate: Transaction Tools.
- Take one of the following CIPS courses. Please note that AHWD, RSPS, and PSA elective substitution courses do not count for the reactivation requirements.
- Europe and International Real Estate
- Asia/Pacific and International Real Estate
- The Americas and International Real Estate
- Africa and International Real Estate
- Resubmit the CIPS designation application along with appropriate dues and application fee.
- Remain active by paying your CIPS dues every year.
Once you complete the courses and submit the application, we will add the order to your account for you to pay the appropriate fees to reinstate. Please contact us at cips@nar.realtor once your courses are complete.
