With its animal prints, shaggy textures, striped walls, and retro rugs, the 1970s have had a huge influence on home design trends. Designers continue to borrow from the disco-loving decade but in a modern, luxurious way.

From eccentric light fixtures to mirrors and abstract designs, Pittsburgh interior designer Esther Dormer channeled the ’70s in a big way when designing and renovating this century-old Pittsburgh property. Dormer used the original woodwork and gold accents to give this home, a rental, a cool ’70s vibe. The home is located across the river from downtown Pittsburgh, and the area is a hot spot for young professionals.
