Many homeowners want to entertain guests and make their home a mecca for friends and family to create lasting memories. But a home with a “lived-in” feel is not always the most suitable for entertaining house guests. Buyers may require an easily adaptable home with multifunctional features that can be shown off in multiple ways.

A recent report from the home remodeling site Houzz highlighted the increasing desire among homeowners for smart entertaining solutions. For example, they found that searches have tripled over the last year for “kitchen islands with a drop leaf.” These enable homeowners to easily expand their kitchen island but still offer a space-saving solution for everyday use.

Also, Houzz has found an uptick in searches for “pop-up trundle daybeds.” This offers versatile furniture to better accommodate overnight guests when a home’s space is tight.

Some homeowners also are showing greater interest in stylish solutions that can double as design features for outfitting their entertainment spaces. For example, Houzz notes online searches for “vinyl record storage” have more than doubled, offering music and nostalgia as a decorating solution.
