Barbie is inspiring home design as she marks 60 years of the Barbie Dreamhouse. The nostalgia of Barbie’s iconic home has influenced the “Barbiecore” movement, which draws on colorful, playful designs—and, of course, includes plenty of pink! Here are six trending styles that are part of the Barbiecore hype:

Blushed: Dusty shades of blush can feel more mature than Barbie’s love for bubblegum hot pink. A softer side of this style comes through blush-colored bed linens, towels and throws.

All the frills: Frill-edging on bed linens as well as tasseled lampshades are accessories that fit this style.

Florals: Small floral prints on linens as well as wallpaper add to a playful aesthetic.

Vintage wall decor: One way to channel this is through postcard vacation prints used for the artwork in a home.

Curvy furnishings: Barbie’s dreamhouse usually contains curvier sofas and chairs, which is also a hot trend for furniture in the real world.

Cloud-like bedding and sofas: Dial up the coziness of the bedding by doubling up on the duvets for extra plump like a cloud. Next, consider adding texture, such as sheepskin in white or pastels, to top it off.

The new “Barbie” movie is being released in 2023, which has coincided with the Barbiecore hype. So, the big question: Will Barbiecore and Barbie’s home design influence stick around beyond that? What do you think?
