Three big kitchen trends are expected to heat up in 2014: black countertops, open shelving or glass-front cabinets, and darker paint colors, according to a survey of 2,000 adults for Zillow Digs Home Design Trend Report for 2014.

Take a peek at some of these trends expected to catch on in kitchens across the country in the new year.
