Building Futures by Drawing From the Past

Hans Nagrath, 28, understood at an early age that real estate could make the difference between staying afloat and experiencing financial insecurity. His father, an Indian immigrant, had a custom jewelry business that did well enough to allow for a few investment properties, but the success didn’t last.

“It clicked within me that he was able to continue taking care of our family and himself, as well as finding some financial freedom, because of his investment properties.”

When Nagrath entered into the Boston area’s tight-knit market in 2017, he knew he was in for an uphill battle, so he conducted himself accordingly. “I had to prove my value to people, and that’s been my mission.”

To make sure he could offer the best service possible and stand out, Nagrath undertook a host of educational opportunities and experiences. He got his general contractor’s license to start a construction business, went through the Real Estate Investment Program at the Harvard Extension School and used his own experience buying a home with only 5% down in the middle of the pandemic as a learning tool.

“I wouldn’t be able to sleep at night if I didn’t properly advise my clients,” he says. “I go back to my father’s experience. Income from property investments allowed him to survive and support us. I can see the gravity of that, and I pass that along to my clients.”
